Aris Federman, Memphis-based film director and cinematographer

Aris Federman · Memphis / NYC

Aris Federman is a Director, Producer, and Cinematographer. He is the CEO and Co-Founder of Blue Oak Productions, a narrative-first studio focused on storytelling across both narrative film and commercial work.

He serves on multiple boards and advisory groups supporting arts, media, and creative development initiatives, contributing to broader conversations around storytelling, education, and cultural production.

Aris received his BFA in Acting from Pace University and attended the Tennessee Governor's School for the Arts. His foundation in performance evolved into a directing practice centered on story, structure, and emotional clarity. Since then, he has written, directed, and produced a range of narrative and branded work spanning independent films, documentaries, and commercial collaborations.

His work has been recognized across the festival circuit, including awards and nominations, with his most recent film Tin Soldiers receiving the Jury Award for Best Cinematography at the Santa Fe Film Festival (2025).

At the center of Aris's work is a simple belief: stories are one of the most direct expressions of empathy. They bring people together — by a campfire, in a theater, or on a screen. Across formats and disciplines, his work aims to continue that tradition of connection through visual storytelling grounded in human truth.
